Winter 2020 Personal Branding Fashion Trends

< back to blog home

Ready to rock your winter personal branding photo shoot by wearing some of the current fashion trends?

The most asked question that my new personal branding clients ask as they prepare for their session is “What should I wear?” Luckily, I offer a 12 page planning guide (in digital and booklet form) because clothing can be stressful for anyone to choose! The guide provides a ton of resources, ideas and tips on what to bring and wear. This immediately reduces any stress they feel about wardrobe!

Depending on the overall feel of your brand, however, you may want to incorporate one of more of the season’s fashion trends. Being on trend doesn’t mean you’re trying too hard to be TRENDY, it just means you are current with your look and that elevates your brand in the eyes of YOUR clients.

I asked my friend Robin Balnave, a long time Cabi stylist, to tell us about the season’s biggest trends. The images here are from the fall/winter Cabi clothing line. You can also see Robin enjoying this season’s trends below as well as her fun Instagram feed. I’ll link to her feed later in this post!

Trend 1 – Animal Prints

Trendy Clothing to wear for a personal branding photo shoot
Animal prints are hot this year. The blouse is the Prowl Top, worn with the gray Tuesday Topper and the Bond Trousers. The jewelry is from the fall line & the shoes are my own. 🙂

Who doesn’t love animal prints? I think they add a dash of sophistication to whatever you’re wearing. I have a zebra belt from Cabi from a few years ago and it’s one of the only belts I wear. This Prowl Top balances out the Tuesday Topper, which is cut like a jean jacket but in a pretty gray velvety texture.

Yes, animal prints are big, but there is one animal print that is hot hot hot, and that is……

Trend 2 – Snakeskin!

Robin says, “Slither into this season in ANYTHING with a snakeskin print. Try this trend on a bootie, belt, or bag or wear a python printed jacket, skirt or beautiful blouse!”

Trend 3 – Gem Tones

Gem tones are big this season. Anyone that knows me knows that this particular gem tone color is my favorite! In fact, I own the beautiful Deco Cardigan shown here.

Go to gem tones to look “of the moment” in the winter of 2020. This gorgeous teal is a cosmetic genius that flatters all skin tones. In other words, you’re gonna look great in teal for your branding shoot!

You can pair this color with black and tan for an unexpected combo. Pull all those hues together with a patterned scarf at the neckline or tied around your waist as a flirty belt.

Teal and gem tones are a big fashion statement this fall and winter. Cabi clothing is shown here that is perfect for a branding shoot.

Trend 4 – Jeans, Pick Your Style!

Denim is an important staple in everyone’s wardrobe, and I always suggest to my personal branding clients that they wear jeans in at least one of their looks when it comes to their photo shoot. For instance, jeans can be dressed up or down according to your brand and the look you want to show your followers.

“This season, anything goes, but for a fun update, look for sporty details in your jeans like a striped waistband or nod to the 70’s with an authentic butterfly” says Robin.

Thanks so much to Robin Balnave for giving me a heads up about the fall/winter trends! I hope this article gives you something to think about as you prepare for your personal branding photo session.
